As back to school approaches, students and teachers are preparing to return to the classroom for some form of in-person instruction. Encouraging social distancing is at the forefront of teachers’ minds. Like many teachers, I’m preparing for this uncharted territory by reimagining what my own classroom will look like.
My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space that promotes social distancing. With this goal in mind, I created this space-themed poster set for teachers returning to classrooms this fall.

Here are four ways that this poster set can promote social distancing in your classroom:
- Who doesn’t appreciate a good pun? This poster set reads “Let’s give each other some SPACE.” The student-friendly language (with a little bit of humor) will make your students smile and understand that your classroom is a safe space for them.
- The posters serve as a bright and colorful reminder to practice social distancing. I wanted to create classroom decor that was encouraging instead of overbearing. It’s the perfect way to spark conversation in the classroom about social distancing etiquette.
- These are SO EASY to add to your classroom! Just download and print these posters (8.5” x 11”). They complement any background color you may have on your bulletin board.
- You can use this for any grade or subject level. While I’m an English teacher, I could imagine this being great in a science classroom or elementary classroom. The possibilities are endless!
I’m continuously inspired by teachers who are finding creative ways to welcome their students back and taking this new challenge in stride. We all want what’s best for our students. However you’re returning to school this fall, I want to wish you the best of luck. You’ve got this!
How are you reimagining your classroom this year for social distancing?
